Assessment, Course, Treatment (ACT)
Cost is $200.00
Individuals convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI or BAC - per se), Misdemeanor Dangerous Drugs (MDD), Underage Drinking and Driving (UDD -.02 violations) are required by Montana Law to complete an ACT Program.
Arrangements to begin an ACT Program are done by setting an appointment for an intake, which can be done by phone, (406) 727-2512, or in person at the office, 1220 Central Avenue, Suite 1A.
The ACT intake is the first step in the process of completing the Assessment portion of the program. During this time you will provide written information needed by the counselor to accurately evaluate your needs. This appointment takes approximately one and a half hours to complete.
The Course is a series of four classes. Times will be given at the time of your Intake Appointment. In order to complete the course in a timely manner, it is recommended that you attend 4 weeks in a row. A missed class will result in a make-up session, which will be a month later.
Classes provide general information of the physical and psychological effects of alcohol/ drugs as related to driving behavior and the development of chemical dependency. The laws of Montana relating to using and driving are heavily stressed. Participants are also provided the opportunity to develop their own DUI avoidance plan to prevent further alcohol and/ or drug and driving related offenses.
You are required to meet with the Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) who instructs the ACT program for two one-on-one sessions, each an hour in length.
This time gives the patient an opportunity to assess his/ her own usage and for the LAC to share their professional recommendations. If a problem exists, as determined through the interviews and testing, an individual may be referred to ongoing counseling on an outpatient or inpatient basis. Treatment is required if the patient is a repeat offender.
