How Can I Help?
Blue Thunder Lodge

Welcome to Gateway Community Services' transitional living facility, Grace Home. As a responsible and innovative program, we strive to create healthy, functioning women in recovery from substance abuse by providing:

  • A safe, structured living environment.
  • The opportunity to develop life skills and personal goals.
  • A foundation for daily living through 12-Step and Spiritual involvement.

Gateway first offered the services of the "Recovery Home" in 1997 by providing a structured, safe, secure and chemically free environment for women and their children so that they may have the opportunity to rebuild their life skills. In 2007 we are still operating under the same basic principles.

However with the severity of addiction in our community, we are now seeing a need for women to stay longer and access more life skills training. Within the past 5 years, Grace Home has redesigned the life skills component with more formalized workshops designed specifically for recovering women and their children.

Gateway demonstrates integrity in all of our programming by reflecting core values of honesty, respect, communication, responsibility and teamwork.

Grace Home was established to provide special transitional treatment for alcohol and drug addicted (chemically dependent) women, with dependent children under the age of 12 years, the opportunity to live in a structured, supportive and chemically free environment.

The purpose of Grace Home is to provide a family-friendly residential setting in which moms can receive intensive outpatient treatment for their addiction at Gateway Recovery Center, while continuing to care for and provide parenting for their child(ren) while working to enhace their life experiences in a positive way.

Goals of the Program:

  • To facilitate a personalized, quality, intensive residential program designed to assist with each resident's needs, which will increase self-respect and provide the necessary skills to achieve healthy living.
  • To work together with the residents to enhance their knowledge about child development and to apply parenting skills.
  • To assist residents in developing education or job skills that will provide meaningful employment and enable them to become independent.
  • To bring out the best in each resident by developing independent living skills and allow the resident the chance to help others and give back to the community.
  • The residents and their children will move onto independent living in a stable, supportive and chemically free environment.

Grace Home is a highly structured living facility and the residents will be required to be involved in substance abuse treatment, attend 12-Step Meetings and participate in life skills training.

The needs of the residents will be continuously assessed and referral to appropriate community service providers will be made to meet those needs. It is very important that each resident have access to programs and services to further their recovery efforts. Established collaborations within the  community will prove to be a valuable asset in filling the unmet needs of the residents.

Graduation from Grace Home will vary from 6 months to 2 years from the date of admission. The length of time a person lives in the home will depend on the resident's needs and successful completion of the program's Three Phases which focus on independent living. An exit evaluation will be completed to determine if the resident's individual needs were met and to what extent they feel successful in building a plan for a chemically free lifestyle.
