The MIP Program offered through Gateway Recovery Center
is designed for youth under the age of 21 who have received a first or subsequent MIP charge. The MIP program is an educational program designed to enlighten youth and their parents about the harmful physical and psychological effects of alcohol on the human body, the serious legal consequences related to substance misuse and recognize responsible decision making choices.
The MIP Program is a full day session provided 2 Saturdays per month. The day consists of an intake session and four (4) group sessions, two of which will be with a parent or legal guardian if the student is under the age of 18.
Second or Subsequent Offenses
An offender who has multiple charges will do a complete chemical dependency evaluation. Evaluations are done in three sessions, if the offender is under the age 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the youth to the 1st & 3rd sessions. If treatment is recommended, the youth is to complete such treatment.
Chemical Dependency Evaluations are provided to the public on a sliding fee scale. For more information, call (406) 727-2512.
The offender is given two (2) weeks or ten (10) business days from the day they are sentenced by the judge to contact the Minor in Possession (MIP) provider and make the necessary appointment to enroll in class. The offender has 90 days from the date of sentencing to complete the class.
